The following 8 week 5k training plan will help any runner get in great shape to run their first, fastest, or most fun 5k ever! We’ll help you set a goal, then get there. Don’t have 8 weeks to train? We’ve got you covered!

GETTING STARTED

If you’ve done a challenge with us before, click here to get going!

If not, below are the steps you need to set your goal and log your miles over the next 8-weeks.

STEP 1: JOIN STRAVA

If you’re already on Strava, head to STEP 2

To create a FREE Strava account go here!

  • It’s simple, free, and connects with MANY other running apps.
  • If you already use a Garmin, Apple Watch, or other device, read this article to connect with STRAVA.
  • If you don’t want to sync with another app, you can always use the manual entry in Strava.

Since a big goal of the challenge is virtual, social accountability, and interaction, we need you to use Strava in some way if you want to be on the Leaderboard and connected to the community.

PLEASE CONTACT US with any questions about this!

STEP 2: CONNECT YOUR ACCOUNT

Click the orange “Connect with STRAVA” button at the top of this page to connect your STRAVA account to our Leaderboard.

The first time you access the page, you’ll set a goal for the 8-week challenge.

STEP 3: GET MOVING!

Each time you go for a walk or a run, record it using your device or the STRAVA app, sync, then visit this page and view the leaderboard!

We hope you will also track other participants and encourage them along the way.

Drew Klinsing and Nathan Freeburg

Participants walk or run 3.1 miles, then drink beer! Everyone is invited to enjoy the day’s entertainment: live music, great food, giveaways, and activities with partners and sponsors. Runners and walkers receive a craft brew and a collectors pint glass or seasonal swag item (plus rotating goodies) with registration. 10% of our proceeds help support local nonprofit partners.

The Oregon Brewery Running Series is locally owned and operated by Portland and Vancouver residents – Nathan Freeburg and Drew Klinsing. They are the masterminds behind the Oregon/Washington schedule and at the helm of ensuring everyone has a great run/walk, delicious beer, and a fun experience!

2021 will be the SIXTH year Drew and Nathan have been enjoying beer run fun in Oregon and SW Washington.

Nathan started running when he was 13 years ago and 25+ years later, he’s still going. When he’s not running, he enjoys taking his four kids on adventures in the great outdoors. And when he and his wife can, they love to travel, explore new restaurants, and attend outdoor concerts. He loves hazy IPA’s, good pizza, and strong coffee.

Drew is a self-declared novice at so many things: soccer, basketball, baseball, stand up paddle boarding, camping, etc. One thing he is not a novice at is the Pacific Northwest. He and his wife Michelle, along with their two kids, love living in the Portland area and exploring all there is to offer especially the breweries that saturate this great land.
