What is Dollar For?
Dollar For is a nonprofit 501(c)3 that helps families pay medical expenses. The way they do that is pretty unique. People sign up to donate one dollar a month, and every month, that money goes towards helping a family in need. When you sign up, you get a video that tells the story of where your dollar is going that month. At the end of the month, you’ll get a follow-up video showing the impact the community of donors has made. To date, Dollar For has thousands of individuals committed to giving just one dollar a month to help local families.
It’s important to point out that 100 pennies of every dollar given goes directly to the families who need it. Jared told me this was his vision from the beginning and thought it would be “totally dope” to create an organization that was able to give 100% of your donations. To cover their overhead, they have private donors and corporate sponsors to pay their expenses. They say,
We want people to know that every dollar matters because 100% of every dollar will truly go to these families that are in medical debt.
