Welcome to another installment of the Oregon Brewery Running Series PodcastInspiring Oregonians to Get Active, Have Fun, and Give Back. We host family-friendly, 5K fun runs that start and end at some of Oregon’s best breweries.

In this episode of the podcast, I sit down and chat with Jerry Fechter, the owner and head keg washer at Lompoc Brewing (his words, not mine). Jerry’s hilarious! I’ve gotten to know him a tiny bit since 2017 when they hosted a 5k fun run with us. This year, 2018, they will be hosting another one of our runs at their fifth quadrant, or 5Q, location in North Portland on April 28. If you’d like to join us, use promo code Lompoc5, and save $5 when you register.

Today on the show, we’ll be learning a bit about Lompoc Brewing, their origin story, about each of their four locations, and Jerry and I will talk just a bit about what makes their beer unique. Also, keep listening for a 50% off Lompoc promo code!

About the Lompoc Brewing Locations

Listen to the episode to hear Jerry describe each location and it’s charming character.

The Lompoc Tavern on NW 23rd Ave. is the newest – and oldest – member of the Lompoc family of pubs. The building was torn down in 2012 to make way for a mixed-use building with ground floor retail. In 2013, they reopened as the Lompoc Tavern in the exact same location, retaining the funky, familiar feel but in a squeaky clean new space.

The Fifth Quadrant (or 5Q as we’re more commonly known) is where all of their beer is brewed now. It’s not only a brewery, but an awesome neighborhood pub with an extensive tap list and some crazy amazing burgers among great food.

Oaks Bottom Public House, named for the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge located just to the west, is a welcoming pub located in the heart of Sellwood, offering neighbors delicious food, handcrafted beers and a full bar in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Sidebar is our barrel tasting room and bottle shop, located just around the corner from the 5Q. Enjoy a variety of barrel aged and seasonal specialty beers available in limited quantities.

About Lompoc Beer

Lompoc brews eight flavorful year-round beers, plus an insane amount of seasonals and exclusive releases. Jerry told me they brew 35 – 40 different beers every year in 18 – 20 styles. Here are a few we talked about (you’ll have to listen to the episode to hear their descriptions).

  • PawPaw Beer
  • Wicked Punk IPA
  • Revolution Red (Hazy Red Ale)
  • Cascadia Golden Ale
  • Fechter
  • Portland Parkways Pilsner
