HAPPY 2018!
We want to kick off the new year with an eye towards all the incredible opportunities we have for racing here in Oregon. Today on the show, I’m talking with Matt Rasmussen from the Run Oregon Blog. (listen to our second episode where I interview him and the founder, Kelly Barton). Matt is an expert when it comes to finding races around Oregon and SW Washington so I thought would pick his brain about which races are the best.
As you know, part of our mission is helping people to Get Active, so our first show of 2018, is focused on helping you plan your year of running and racing. Of course, we’d love it if you participated in ALL of our 2018 Brewery Running Series events, but that still leaves a whole bunch of free weekends!
In this episode, Matt and I will each share a handful of our favorite 5K, 10K, and Half Marathons around the state. We also talk a bit about how our personal running goals have changed with the arrival of kids and overall busier lives in recent years. Our mindsets have shifted to become focused more on running for fun and fitness, versus always trying to set new personal records.
For those of you who like beer…oh wait, that’s probably most of you, Matt told me about a lesser know feature on the blog, called Kegs and Legs. It’s a cool partnership they’ve formed with breweries all around the state who are friendly to runners and people interested in leading active lifestyles. Here’s how Matt describes it.
I think running here in Oregon running in beer goes hand in hand. And so there’s a lot of great breweries out here and we started this feature to kind of showcase some of the cool beers that are out there. So we have a couple. We’ve we’ve started some partnerships and some relationships with some local breweries including some of the ones here at Oregon Brew running series where on a weekly basis we’re talking about the brewery and we’re talking about some of the beer that’s there.
