Welcome back to another installment of the Oregon Brewery Running Series PodcastInspiring Oregonians to Get Active, Have Fun, and Give Back. We host family-friendly, 5K fun runs that start and end at some of Oregon’s best breweries.

In today’s show, I’m talking with Cobi Brothers, the head-brewer at Stickmen Brewing. Stickmen has two locations, one on Lake Oswego, and a beer hall in Tualatin. The Tualatin location is where we’ll be running in February of 2018. Use promo code Stickmen5 to save $5 on your registration.

I met up with Cobi at the Tualatin location on a busy Monday morning at the end of 2017. There was all kinds of work happening there, so the noise you hear in the background is what an active brewery sounds like, even though they aren’t brewing there yet, but more on that later.

Cobi is a big dude, he played football in high school and college, does cross-fit, but after about two seconds, I found him to be super friendly, very welcoming and easy to talk to. That’s how everyone I’ve met at Stickmen is, from Lauren to Caitlin to co-owner Tim (and others I’m forgetting). They have been over the top friendly and answered lots of my random questions about their beer and space.

In this episode, Cobi and I talk about;

  • How he went from a philosophy student to a third-grade teacher, to the head brewer at Stickmen.
  • How he got into the craft beer world.
  • The inspiration behind his gold medal-winning beer, “The Irony is Delicious.”
  • What you can expect from the Stickmen beer, the locations, and the people.
  • A few new things coming up for Stickmen in 2018.

And more!
