Beer and running seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly, Mario and Luigi or long lines and brunch in Portland. If you’ve been a runner for any length of time, you may have noticed that many runs end with beer in some form.

A recent study conducted by the Harris Poll, surveyed roughly 2,000 adults and found that craft beer drinkers consume less than the average American, and pay more attention to their health. The report directly calls out active lifestyles, naming running specifically, as a key attribute of these craft beer consumers, which made up 73% of participants.

I couldn’t agree more. This is, of course, partly why we started the Oregon Brewery Running Series. It just makes sense. Run a 5K with friends, then enjoy a beer when you’re done. In fact, there’s a brewery in Vancouver Washington that has built their entire business at the intersection of running and beer!

In today’s podcast, I talk with Jeff Seibel, the unlikely creator of Ghost Runners Brewery, a brewery built on the idea that we should reward ourselves when we play hard, and that reward should be really good high quality craft beer.

During my conversation with Jeff, we talk about all things running and beer. A few of the highlights include;

  • What Jeff did before beer, and how he started brewing.
  • His thoughts on running (he used to think it was stupid) and why they choose to focus their brewery and beer around it.
  • Why everyone can and should run!
  • The ins-and-outs of what it takes to make phenomenal, flavorful beer.
  • An in depth tasting of three of their most popular beers. (Chasing Fluffy Pink Unicorns, 5K IPA, Pre-HOPtaine)
  • Their awesome new location on the Vancouver waterfront opening in 2018

And much more!
