The 2017 Oregon Brewery Running Series Fall Preview!

We just finished our summer running season, and what a blast! Averaging just over a hundred runners per event, we continue to add to our beer running family. Nearly 40% of participants were new to our events. We met people from all over the world; from Japan, Switzerland, Rhode Island, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, and many others.

The Oregon Brewery Running Series is excited to launch our fall series of 5K fun runs on October 21 at Baerlic Brewing in SE Portland! Fall is an incredible time to run in Portland. Say what you will about the rain, the overcast sky’s are like a big cozy blanket. To me, fall marks a big time of transition. From going back to school, to transitioning to warmer running gear, and of course, loads of seasonal brews.

Here is a snapshot of what you can expect at one of our 5k fun runs this fall.

What’s New?

First off, we won’t be doing goodie bags anymore, but won’t! We’ll still have goodies, we just won’t be making everyone a bag. As we have been tracking things, we’ve discovered about 20% of the goodie bags get trashed – and that’s just what we can see! In an effort to cut down on waste, we’ll have a goodie table, where participants can take what they want.

Second, we’re planning some great new swag and merch options. If you don’t have one of our shirts, now might be the time! We’re also toying with the idea of introducing totally new merch otems as well. Stay tuned!

Where We’ll Be

We’re kicking the season off at Baerlic Brewing on October 21. Voted Best Small Brewery in Oregon, this small brewery features some unique beer, in a space designed to foster togetherness. Rik Hall, co-founder/brewer said it best; they want their beer to augment your experience with friends/family, not be the experience.

UPDATE: Great Notion Brewing recently notified us that they would no longer be able to participate in the 2017 Oregon Brewery Running Series. We’re disappointed, but have a fantastic replacement brewery that makes us equally as excited! On October 28th, please join us at Ghost Runners Brewery in Vancouver, WA for a Halloween 5K fun run! Enjoy running themed beers during this event that happens to coincide with their five year anniversary. We’ll also have a few more tricks and treats to share with you!

Ghost Runners Brewery is a 10 barrel brewing facility founded in 2012. Ghost Runners Brewery distributes a core selection of handcrafted ales and seasonal exclusives to bars and restaurants throughout Washington and operates a tasting room on site. Every exceptional creation is handcrafted with high-quality grain, premium hops, and a detailed attention to consistency and quality. Each brew bears a running-based name to celebrate the fun, joy, and excitement of running.

We’re kicking off November with another north-of-the-border-run as we venture into Washington for our second Clark Country run! We’ll be running with our friends at Hopwork Urban Brewery in Vancouver on November 4. This will be a more suburban feel, which we’re excited about. When we interviewed Christian Ettinger, he was super stoked for us to experience this new space. It has a different feel than other HUB location, but still boasts the same great beer, food, and service.

To conclude our entire 2017 brewery running calendar, we are privileged to head south to Tualatin to rock the suburbs at Stickmen Brewing! Join us on November 11 for this amazing brewery that, until recently was new to both Drew and I . This will be an amazing location as they have tons of space, wood fired pizza, and delicious beer.
