The Oregon Brewery Running Series is excited to launch our spring series on May 20 at Base Camp Brewing. With four events on our spring season calendar, we look forward to running then with some nicer weather. We had one of the nastiest winters on record (by Portland standards), and while we certainly aren’t scared of running in the rain, sunshine is always welcome.
Drew and I have been hard at work lining up new partners, new courses, and new breweries for you to enjoy. In addition to a fun way to get active, enjoy craft beer, and celebrate Portland, here are three more reasons why you should join us for a 5k fun run this spring.
New Partners
We’re thrilled about our 2017 partners! From those you’ve already seen (Inner Beast Cross-Fit, Kind Bars, Nossa Familia Coffee, Ruby Jewel Ice Cream), to three new ones we know you’ll love.
Coco Donuts – we believe donuts are good for you…in moderation of course! And if you’re going to eat a donut, you may as well eat the best. Coco Donuts will have samples (and coupons) at our spring events to enjoy before or after you run!
Almetta Almond Milk Mousse – is an amazingly delicious plant-based healthy dessert with simple ingredients. Based in Eugene, this dairy free, vegan-friendly treat is sort of like pudding, only way better and good for you.
On Shoes – a Swiss running shoe company that stations their North American headquarters in Portland. I recently did an interview with On, and am quite impressed with what they are doing. They’ll be in attendance with demo shoes to try during your run.
New Breweries
This spring we’re introducing two new breweries to you. In addition to favorites Base Camp Brewing (May 20) and Ecliptic Brewing (June 10), we’re stoked to add Lompoc Brewing (May 27) and The Commons Brewery (June 3) to the Oregon Brewery Running Series family.
In addition to visiting new breweries and tasting different beers, you’ll get to explore different neighborhoods in the city. While Lompoc and Commons are near other breweries we’ve run at in the past, the courses are entirely different.
For example, The Commons course is a mirror image of the Rouge Eastside route from February. You’ll get to run past OMSI, near the river, then back up through industrial SE. The Lompoc course takes us through North Portland, past Peninsula Park (maybe with blooming roses), and back along a very up-and-coming Portland neighborhood.
Be sure to explore all four of our brewery partners this spring!
New Swag and Goodies
We have also been hard at work securing new items for our goodie bags. As you know, in addition to your beer, all participants get to take home a commemorative pint glass or seasonal swag item. We just placed a big order for the spring items below.
- Running Belt – to hold your stuff when you run.
- Buff – to keep your head/face/neck warm or cool when you run.
- Bottle Opener – to open your bottle of beer.
- Coaster – to set your bottle on.
Not to mention, we have a new pint glass design, coupons, and discounts from other partners!
